A fabric and wallpaper company could see up to 20 new jobs created following a multi-million pound takeover.
Clarke and Clarke, of Haslingden, has been taken over by luxury interior furnishings group Walker Greenbank plc for £25m.
The final deal value could increase to more than £42m if the company, based at The Madison Centre, on Knowsley Road, performs well over the next four years.
Lee Clarke, who jointly owns Clarke and Clarke, which currently employs 70 people, with his wife Emma, is delighted with the deal.
He said: “After 20 years building the Clarke and Clarke brand we are very proud to confirm that we have now joined Walker Greenbank plc.
“These are incredibly exciting times for Clarke and Clarke and our customers and we look forward to continuing to bring creativity and beauty to even more homes.”
Walker Greenbank designs, manufactures and markets wallpapers and fabrics and its designs are often used in lifestyle products including bed linen, rugs and tableware.
Lee, who has owned the business for 17 years and will remain in charge, added: “Being part of a big group opens up a lot more opportunities for growth which is something that makes the jobs of people who work here already even safer. My name will still be above the door so I want to create more jobs.
“The takeover could mean there will be something like between 10 and 20 more jobs.”
He added: “We are looking next at expanding into package goods and expanding into the overseas market.
“We will probably be number three in the world in our field which will give everyone a lot more security. It is a big step for us and a very good thing and we are excited about the future.
